"Intelligence plus character - that is the goal of true education."- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Our school library is full of books for students to browse and check out.  We have fiction, picture books, biographies, poetry, folk tales, easy readers, and even a few graphic novels.  We encourage reading in-school during Library Time and DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Time, and we encourage reading at home with friends and family members.

Book Contract

At the beginning of the year, we review the Book Contract with each student, and send it home for a parent and guardian signature.  Please remember to return the Book Contract to the library.  Students can begin checking out books after the signed Book Contract is returned.

Book Borrowing Policy

  • Check out: Students can check out books during their class’s Library Time.
  • Limit: Students can check out 2 books at a time.
  • Loan: A book is loaned for 1 week.  If a student wants to keep it longer, they must bring it into the library to renew it.
  • Return: Students can return books to the library during their class’s Library Time, or they can return books to the bin in their classrooms.
  • Replace: Students with VERY overdue books will not be allowed to borrow books until those missing books are returned or the replacement fee is paid.  The replacement fee for a lost book is $5.00.
  • Prize: At the end of each trimester, each student who has returned or paid replacement fee for all books s/he checked out will be entered into a drawing.  One prize winner will be chosen from each grade.
